Our implementation strategy focuses on introducing the Project in clusters of three Schools for a period of six months intensively and another six months- installing sustainability mechanisms. The first three Schools that were chosen by Kampala City Council together with the Ka Tutandike Literacy Committee and management are Kyambogo Primary School which is a government School in Nakawa Division with 681 children and 22 teachers. The School has a unit for special needs where children are attended to by a trained teacher and latter mixed up with the other children in the other classes. Interesting about this School was the fact that the library records had been kept from as far as 1999, with a clear indication that over 60% of the books were outdated. The second School out of the three Schools is Wandegeya Muslim Primary School which is also a government School in Kawempe Division with 330 pupils and ten teachers. This is the school were we pretested our tools during the Situational Analysis in 2008 before we actually started working in the pilot three schools i.e. 2009-2010. The School has a large room which has been set aside for library space but with very few books approximately between, 50-80 Story books. The third School is St Joseph Mapeera Memorial Primary School which is also a government School in Lubaga Division with 280 pupils and seven teachers. According to the Head Teacher, the School was started in 1963 and sits on church land, most of which has been cut off for future development to the extent that the children have very little space for play. Most of the children are dependants and the School does not have space allocated for a library.
