Ka Tutandike welcomes Dr.Mumtaz Kassam - newest member of the Board

The Ka Tutandike team welcomed Dr.Mumtaz Kassam during her first visit to the their offices on Monday 11 April in her capacity as the newest member of the Ka tutandike Board.

Dr.Kassam is a highly acclaimed Solicitor/Advocate and Diplomat with extensive international legal and diplomatic experience.  Since January 2008 - to date Dr. Kassam has been Deputy High Commissioner at the Uganda High Commission London. She was recently awarded a PhD and completed her PhD thesis at the University of Middlesex, The title is ‘Land, Race and Politics.The Asian Question, Uganda 1900 to 2010'.  The thesis discusses the Land Act with special relevance to the Asian community, goes through the background of the Asian Migration, their drastic expulsion by Idi Amin in 1972 and their subsequent return and repossession of their Land and properties under the present government.

Additionally, Dr. Kassam is a respected business woman as well as being an accomplished tennis player. She serves on the Boards of a few other charities and is deeply committed to improving the lives of marginalised women and children.

Dr.Kassam joins the Board of Ka Tutandike with a wealth of knowledge and contacts - both national and international, and will in particular work with other Board members and the Ka Tutandike staff team to develop and expand its donor and fundraising base.
