Katutandike - Let's Get Started - Transforming Lives in Uganda

DISABLED YOUNG WOMEN IN MASAKA DISTRICT RECEIVE TRAINING IN BEE KEEPING AS A BUSINESS.

KTU conducted a three day training programme for a group of 50 rural young women with disabilities, in Masaka district. From 10 – 12 June, the women attended the training to introduce them to beekeeping as a business. The knowledge and skills imparted will empower this group of women to start up apiary farms which are aimed at promoting financial stability in the lives of these women, their children and immediate families. The group members will individually receive start-up kits (bee hives, protective wears, airtight buckets, smokers and bee brushes) to begin apiary projects.

The training was funded by Master Card and the Singapore Committee for UN Women.
