The leadership of Gaba Market together with the women vendors elected representatives to the Gaba ECD management committee, composed of representatives of the market Leadership, the Local council committee, Police child and Family welfare department, the Education department, and Health departments, trained Care Givers, Parents of young children, women leaders and a representative from KTU.
As a prerequisite for setting up an ECD centre, there must be a management committee in place to oversee the day to day management of the facility. The ECD committee plays a vital role in the management and sustainability of the ECD Center. The committee also elected a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer to take up leadership and ensure that the committee is functions effectively. The newly elected Chairperson, Ms. Mabel Kamya remarked, “The team pledges full commitment and corporation to ensuring the ECD Center begins operation as soon as possible, our market children need the ECD services today and not tomorrow!
