| Following the training in organic farming supported by KTU, Umojja Women’s Group over the last 2 years, its members have been very proactive and enterprising by utilizing these skills by starting up their own demonstration garden near their market environment. With the cultivation of organic vegetables, they have now boosted their income significantly by supplying surrounding urban markets as well as improving their children’s diets. Basing Anita Hawa a member of the Umojja women’s group and our tour guide of the demonstration garden said and “I can finally sleep peacefully at night knowing that I have food in the morning for me and my family.”
