Our Social Enterprise encourages our beneficiary groups to engage in a self sustaining business capable of bringing in diversified revenues in the long run as well as economic empowerment/ improved livelihoods for their families and communities.
Benefits:
Stakeholder involvement in the value chainBecause the vulnerable groups that we target, live in abject poverty but have access to land as a resource, they are involved at the 1st level of Bee farming. We then purchase the raw honey from the beneficiary groups and join the value chain at the 2nd level to process and packaging the honey, brand and then market sell the finished product to various channels such as supermarkets. The profits are then shared/re-invested to expand the scope of the business and also provide sustainability and scalability to our work on Early Childhood Development. We work hard to ensure safety, hygiene and purification standards at every stage by providing appropriate training to the target communities and also providing protective wear and the necessary equipment for farming, harvesting and post harvest handling. |
